Hong Kong-based fintech firm WeLab has appointed Bruno Lee as its new group advisor.

Lee brings in 30 years of industry experience to work on WeLab Bank’s upcoming wealth management business, said Simon Loong, founder and group CEO of WeLab. He will also contribute to the group’s strategy and expansion plans.
Prior to joining WeLab, Lee was the regional head of retail wealth distribution, wealth, and asset management at insurer Manulife. He also had a stint at international bank HSBC as the regional head of wealth management.
Apart from his business endeavors, Lee has also served on professional panels and committees in the financial sector, including Hong Kong Investment Funds Association, Financial Services Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and Investor and Financial Education Committee.

WeLab operates in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Indonesia, with brands across all three markets. It claims to have 50 million individual users and over 700 enterprise customers.
In 2021, it acquired Bank Jasa Jakarta after raising US$240 million through a consortium called WeLab Sky, effectively joining Indonesia’s digital banking market.
WeLab is in a unique position compared to other digital bank players in Indonesia. Its presence in the country was established through a joint venture with local conglomerate Astra Indonesia.
